What's GROWING on the blarg?!

Woah! What's that growing on the blarg?!

Check out all the neat things we've been growing in our kitchen (and rooms) - lots of delicious live and fermented foods!

Alex has become a certified Kombucha Master (K.M.)*.
*(not an actual certification... an honorary mention by a very satisfied taste tester.. me! (Ariel) :D)

We made a giant batch of kimchi, korean spicy pickled/fermented cabbage! Yummmm!
Tossed up with some lentils and curry tofu! Mmmm...

Cooking with a Carnivore!: Week 1, Vegan Lasagna!

Welcome to the first installment of the latest segment on the blarg, 'Cooking with a Carnivore!' in which we help out a friend who's given up meat on Fridays for lent figure out what to eat in the form of multiple-course delicious vegan meals! :D

This isn't Garfield's Lasagna (It's better)!!!
Quick disclaimer - our friend is a self proclaimed "carnivore" (in the, every good meal should have at least one steak sense), we don't mean to offend/generalize anyone who consumes meat, I know that carnivore is sometimes used by vegans derogatorily. Ahhhh, maybe I don't mean that either! Too much politics!

Vegan Browned-butter Lemon Berry Tart!

Rich and flaky browned-butter crust... perfectly tart lemon custard... refreshing fruit... 
Though this recipe may seem a little out of season, the recent resurgence of berries (on sale!) at the grocery store reminded me just how delicious it was and I couldn't resist sharing. (:

Also you guys don't understand this thing was EFFING amazing (this is Alex speaking, I actually spent most of my time during the making of this masterpiece at work but got to enjoy the fruits of the labor!) ~(@o@~)

That, and we could all use a little taste of summer around this time of year (not that we've had much of a winter around here!). 

So here's a reminder to everyone of something look forward to! Well... now you don't have to look forward to it since there's a recipe for it...SO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!? \(@o@\) GET BAKING!!!
